Just Peachy: Georgia Girls Weekend

One of the major perks of my 9-5 job is that my firm gives us the last Friday of each month off as a team health day. Usually I spend these Fridays traveling to see Cait or doing a pop up for M&V, but for my Final Friday of January I planned a girls trip with my work bestie Maggie. Fun fact: before Mags picked me up from the airport in Atlanta we had never met in person - let me tell you it was besties at first sight!

Before we left ATL, I was able to see our firm's office and have dinner with another work bestie & his girlfriend which was a major plus. PSA: I highly recommend becoming IRL friends with the people you work with, it makes post-grad life so much more fun!

We slammed our laptops shut on Thursday afternoon and headed out on our little Georgia road trip down to Savannah & Tybee Island! We made a detour to stop by the Ballard Design Outlet Store (this is one of my favorite home decor stores so I wasn't passing up the opportunity to find a hidden jewel). Our car ride consisted of the New Heights podcast, recounting our college love lives and Y2K pop hits.

We were staying on the island for the weekend in the cutest condo at the Savannah Beach Racquet Club. If Barbie lived in Tybee this would be her dream condo! We highly recommend staying at the Palm Peach for your next girls beach weekend - it was right on the beach and within walking distance from a cute coffee spot, restaurants & shops!

Our main goal for the weekend was to relax and not look at our laptops. After securing some iced lattes at Tybean Coffee, we spent most of the morning at the beach. I had my book (Tom Lake by Ann Patchet - highly recommend!) and Mags had her needlepoint, all was right in the world. For our beach day I wore a strapless cornflower blue swimsuit from Target paired with our Selena romper. That afternoon we walked around near our condo, grabbed lunch (tacos & margs at Chamacos), did a little shopping and had a spontaneous photoshoot on the pickleball courts - it wouldn't be a trip with a M&V sister if content wasn't made!

We cleaned up and got dressed for dinner at Sea Wolf Tybee - a gourmet hot dog spot. The hummus was amazing, the hot dogs were honestly life changing and the vibes were impeccable! After a few rounds of drinks at dinner we knew we couldn't go home just yet so we headed out to find a dive bar. We walked into King Neptune's where we discovered they had karaoke set up for the night and we knew we had found our spot. Maggie and I gave 2 outstanding performances of some Taylor Swift classics - Our Song and Mean. Another fun fact: Maggie and I are both in a group chat dedicated to all things Taylor Swift at work - and people say corporate America isn't fun! We ended the night with some Trader Joe's gluten free chocolate chip cookies and late night gabbing in the condo.

Just a short drive from Tybee, we spent our Saturday exploring Savannah. I paired our Samantha button down with my favorite white wide leg jeans from Gap and some comfy platform sandals. We started with brunch at Little Duck Diner and had the cutest drinks - I loved mine but Mags described hers as a literal lavender bath tub, so do with that what you will. Before we set off on our self-guided walking tour of Savannah, we grabbed ice coffee at The Paris Market. I ordered their seasonal spiced lavender mocha and it hit the spot.

We spent the afternoon meandering through the city, wandering into the cutest bookshops, thrift stores and home decor spots. We walked through the sweetest neighborhoods and daydreamed about what it would be like to live there. We even saw a couple get married in the middle of one of Savannah's many squares.

After heading back to the condo to change, we made our way back into Savannah for dinner at Bull Street Taco (a rec from a high school friend studying at SCAD) followed by drinks at Alley Cat Lounge. This speakeasy-esque bar was such a cool spot - the menu looks like a newspaper and each page featured a different era of beverages!

I asked Maggie how she would rate our weekend: "1000/10! Perfect balance between rest and play. Highlights of the trip were watching dolphins and gourmet hot dogs, the ultimate combo of restful and easy!" Couldn't have said it better myself Mags! Overall, it was the perfect girls weekend getaway and we can't wait to see where our Final Friday adventures take us next.
